CHICAGO, IL. (August 13, 2015) – Cornelius, Inc., the leading global producer of beverage dispensing systems, and their employees donated 1,831 supply-filled backpacks to Marquardt District 15 (valued at $63,810) and a total of $7,000 to six local charities.
Charities included: Marquardt – School District 15; Shriner’s Children’s Hospital; Ronald McDonald House, Marklund; JDRF, Little Friends and Little City.
The donations were all a part of the company’s annual Sprit day. The day is spent competing in activities such as obstacle courses, spud races and backpack filling relay races all to raise money for the local community. Spirit day’s purpose is to connect all of its employees to be part of building a better life that others may not have access to. Cornelius is dedicated to helping the surrounding community in any way that they can.
Dr. Jerry O’Shea, Superintendent of Marquardt School District 15, said: “This year Cornelius is able to provide backpacks for all of our students K – 5, that’s over 1,800 students. Some families are not in a position to be able to provide backpacks, notebooks, pens and pencils. What Cornelius has done is take that off the table. Whether their family is economically struggling, or not, they are all coming in with the materials they need to start out, fit in and be successful.”
